Business Telephone Message Scripts

An effective voice mail message is actually a well crafted script. Although you will have to substitute certain words such as the name of the person, you can actually  create a script which comes across as confident.

An effective script starts by:

  1. Establish Credibility
    1. Introducing yourself and when you are calling.
    2. If the voice mail box is generic, be sure to mention who the message is for.
  2. Peak Their Curiosity (but don't give it all away)
    1. State the purpose of your call
    2. Provide the person with a call to action -- what are your expectations?
  3. Close with Confidence
    1. Leave them with your contact information.
    2. Closing.

Here are some sample voice mail scripts you can use when leaving a telephone message. Customize then according to your specific needs.

Do you have a favourite script (or part of) that you find particularly useful or effective? Share in the comments below.
